Getting the Vertical Stabiliser ready for Inspection !

20/10/2007 - Riveting the Skin to the Vertical Stabiliser Skeleton

The day arrived to rivet the skin to the vertical stabiliser.  I set the jigs up so the vertical stabiliser was on end just like the horizontal stabiliser and riveted away.  Only had to drill out one rivet this time....I must be improving or it was blind luck.

I was pleased with the results and the stabiliser is ready for inspection; it will be just a matter of riveting the rear spar on once the inspection is done.

My son is posing in the first picture...I think he might be taking the Mickey !!

Pictures of the inside reveal that were I have put masking tape down to protect the primer from the bucking bars scratching the surface once I removed the tape it pulled the primer off.  This should be simple to solve once the inspection is done.

I have just clamped the fibreglass on to see what it looks like, but fixing this in position will be done later in the project just as all the fibreglass will be.

The only other thing I did today was put more storage bins on the walls ready for the wings as there will be a lot more stuff!!
